A formal letter is written to a Class teacher, Head master, manager of factory or company, Police, Government, Munciple, etc. This type of letter required specific wording and a very definite format.
The General Format for Formal Letters.
- At the beginning of this letter also write your name, address with pin code and date writing on the left side.
- Underneath it on the left side those who want to write a letter, their position, name of the organization and their address should be written in full.
- Below this write a subject of the letter.( a phrase about the general content of the letter.)
- Reference (sometimes a reference has to be made to the letter previously received from the addressee or an advertisement that the addressee has placed in a newspaper.
- The letter should start by writing ‘Dear sir / Madam’, Respected sir as it should be on the bottom left.
- The formal letter should be written in a clear and concise manner. Conclude this letter by writing a separate paragraph, such as ‘kindly consider my request’ and ‘oblige’ or ‘Thanking you’ or ‘please let me know if our visit would be ok’.
- Then finally on left hand side write ‘yours truly’, ‘yours faithfully’ or ‘ your obedient student’ .
- Then sign yourself under it.
(Do not
write your name or put your signature in paper.)
